Biography
The youngest in the family
I’m the youngest in the family and I have two older sisters. I’m three years apart from my oldest sister and two years from my second sister. When I finished 9th grade, I moved to America to continue Highschool and completed my Master’s Degree in Architecture.
I look exactly like my dad but my light skin is like my mom as well as my personality. My dad is very nice, calm, and the reason that I’m hot tempered/impatient might be because I’m the youngest and my mom always spoils and takes care of me, but more in terms of protection and wants me to be comfortable. My dad was afraid that I won’t be more mature and do things myself so he sent me to study in America, so that I can live on my own. Another reason is that, my dad used to study in America, so he decided to sent all of children there as well. Although, dad thought wrong because when I’m there, I feel more comfortable and free to do things on my own.
Boarding School
I went to school at Darlington School in Rome, Georgia, which is a boarding school. There’s a lot of rules similar to a military school, which means that everyone has to sign their names every six hours, if they don’t then they’ll get punish. The punishment was that they’ll have to sit and read a book for one hour, but if in one week, you missed signing your name twice, then you’ll have to run around a big pond 30 times within 30 minutes. If you can’t do it then you’ll have to run again next week, I was punished once for this.
I’m the only Thai person at the school so I didn’t have a group of Thai friends. I can sit and have lunch with anyone at any table, but my closest friend will have to be my American roommate. The teachers here are always making sure everything is in order, during the time from 7:30 pm to 10 pm is reading time. We had to open the door to our room, and the rooms are either on the right or the left with a hallway down the middle, and there will be teachers checking to see if we’re reading our books. At 10:30 pm we had to be finish with taking a shower and brushing our teeth and then go to bed, and the teacher will be checking again.
Normally, the school doesn’t let anybody go anywhere, they usually let us go shopping every two months, or else there’s no way that we can go out of the school, unless we’re doing some kind of activities. When there’s an activity I’ll always go especially if it’s mountain climbing and canoeing.
Mart’s Characteristic: Always on Time
When I’m in Thailand, I usually get an average GPA of 1.8 – 1.9 but when I did my bachelor degree I got a 3 and a 3.89 for my Master’s degree. I think that when I’m in Thailand, the materials that are on the test are the things that we had to take special classes for, if we didn’t take special lessons out of school, I won’t be able to do the test. Although when I’m there, I would get a C just for going to class, but if we get less than 70% then it’s a failing grade. In Thailand, if we went to class late or don’t turn in our homework, it’s seen as cool, but over there, I would be embarrassed or if the teacher called on me and I don’t know the answer, everyone will stare and wonder why I can’t answer something so easy. I think what I learned from boarding school is the characteristics of being organized and being on time, because when I’m there, I had to be exact on everything. For example, breakfast is at 8 am, lunch is at noon, and dinner is around 6:30 pm. When I’m here in Thailand, in a lakorn set, around 6:30 pm I would eat dinner before everyone else because I’m used to eating at that time.
Thai Freshy
I entered The Savannah College of Art and Design, so I had to move to Savannah city, which is still in Georgia. For the first two years, I stayed in a dorm, and when I was a junior, I rented an apartment. During that time both of my sisters had finished their Bachelor’s Degree and traveled to another state to continue with their studies. One of my sisters studied in Wisconsin and another in Saint Louis.
My college life is pretty fun, but it’s not that exciting because after school, I would just go home to finish my homework. Some days I might have three hours of class, and I would come home and finish up homework for the rest of that day. My final project was to make a model of a library in Bangkok, it’s located in Sukhumvit, and back then it was an empty area. My university asked for a map and they looked at whether it matches with what I designed. I chose to do a library project because Thailand doesn’t have that much libraries, although my library will not only have books but it will also have TV’s, movies, computers, etc.
How his life changed
Before I quit my job, a lakorn crew came to film a lakorn at the company. They borrowed my desk and P’Da (Hathairath Omthawanit) invited me to come act in a lakorn, but I was still deciding whether I should or not so she said that we can talk it over first. At that time, there wasn’t any lakorn that was right for me so P’Da suggested that I should go talk to P’Off (Pongpat Watcharabanjong). I went but we didn’t get to talk about lakorns, all we talked was about trees/plants. The following month, P’Off called and said that he wanted me to act in a lakorn so I was very surprised that he wanted me to act in the lakorn immediately. After that, I quit my job and every week, I had three days of filming and for the other days, I got to take care of my mom, so I thought I should give it a try.
I never paid any attention to the entertainment business and I never enter in any kind of contest. My family didn’t really pay attention either, but my dad was impressed with P’Off because when my mom was sick, P’Off would come visit often. When my mom died, P’Off also came to the funeral, my dad thought that if I got a chance to work with P’Off, he’ll be able to take good care of me.
The biggest lost in his life
After I finished my Master’s degree, I came back to Thailand, but I was planning to get a Master’s Degree in Interior Designing in New York. I already applied to the university and moved my things there but due to the 9/11 incident, my parents were worried so I postpone my plans. Also, during that time, the doctor diagnosed my mom with Lymph node cancer and she had three years left to live, so I stayed in Thailand and found a job.
At first I thought that the doctor would be able to treat my mom so she went through chemotherapy and three surgeries. The doctor said that she has three months to live because the cancer was spreading very quickly, it had already spread all over her body. My dad decided to close our jewelry company and came care of my mom, I also quit my job to take care of her as well.
My mom was in so much pain since her whole body was swollen and because wherever the cancer spreads to, the swelling would occur there. We couldn’t touch the swelling because it would hurt but it got worst when the cancer spreads to her brain, she was disoriented and wasn’t aware of what was happening. When my mom passed away, I noticed that she was smiling, so I thought that she went in peace because for the past 2-3 months, she was always saying how much pain she was having. We were happy to see that passed away in peace and didn’t have to endure the pain anymore. After she died, Dad closed down the company permanently because he was getting older and since all of children are all grown up, we thought that it would be best for him to rest.
First Drama: Kularb See Dum
The first time I went into a lakorn set, I didn’t know anything because I never had any experience with this kind of work. I never watch any lakorns because I usually watch movies, until now, I still don’t watch that much lakorns. On the first day, I didn’t know what I had to do, how many cameras there were, and why there were so many workers.
When I arrived, a group of people surrounded me and started to put on my makeup, do my hair, and changed my clothes. During filming, there was the camera crew and many people standing behind me, I was very nervous around the crew and the people around me so I had no idea of what to do. It took seven takes for my first scene, it wasn’t that good because that was the best I could do, and I also had 14 scenes that day. Although for the next week, I had only three scenes, I was very confused of why I couldn’t act this little on my first day.
The first day the lakorn came on air, my whole family sat in front of the TV and was anxious to see when I was going to talk. When I said my first line, everyone cheered without thinking of how my acting was because they never saw me in this kind of work before. Although, when the lakorn was on air for a while, they began to critique that my acting was stiff (laugh) but they encouraged me by saying that, if it was my two other sisters, they wouldn’t be able to say anything. They said that I did all that I could. Right now, I’m not nervous in front of the camera anymore but I still have to improve myself especially when analyzing my character, and how I can act and become that character.
